In late November of 1979, Meenan
Oil Company began its existence in the Delaware County heating oil
market by purchasing the Young Supply Company. Located on Lansdowne
Avenue in Upper Darby (our current Division Headquarters), the Young
Supply Co. marketed heating oil, lumber and hardware.

In an effort to continue to grow the heating business in the
Philadelphia metropolitan area, Meenan purchased the J.E. Kunkel
Company of West Philadelphia in October, 1982. Since Kunkel was once
the largest fuel oil dealer in the City of Philadelphia, this
acquisition resulted in Meenan becoming a major presence in the
region.
In February 1983, Meenan merged both its Norristown and Downingtown,
Pennsylvania, operations with the Upper Darby operation. This formed
the Upper Darby Division. The newly constructed division continued
its growth through the purchase of prominent competitors such as the
F.P. Young Company of Philadelphia, Butler Oil of Collingdale,
Peppleman Oil Company of Lansdowne, Borden-Van Alen of Morton,
Ruggieri Brothers of Philadelphia and Atomic Oil Company, also of
Philadelphia.
Today, The Upper Darby Division continues to be a major competitor in
the home heating oil business and also has extensive experience in
providing Home Security services.
We fully expect to realize the same success in Home Security that we
have enjoyed in the heating oil business since the purchase of the
Young Supply Company in 1979.
Give us a call and let us put our
experience to work for you.
