In 1952, Meenan was a partner in the
development of Levittown, PA. Since then, we have enjoyed a
distinguished reputation as the number one fuel oil company in Bucks
County, PA.
Meenan Oil Company was created in 1933 by its parent company, the
William F. Kenney Co. which was founded shortly after the turn of the
century in 1908. Heating homes with fuel oil was an infant industry
when the Meenan Oil Company purchased its first fuel oil truck. From
then until this very day, Meenan Oil Company has been a leader in
bringing homeowners new comforts and less worry regarding their
heating concerns. In fact, our practical experience in keeping
thousands upon thousands of home heating systems in top operating
condition, winter after winter, has been extensively drawn upon by
leading manufacturers of oil burners. Our recommendations and
suggestions have led to better designed and more reliable heating
equipment.
The first Chairman was Al Smith, previously Governor of New York and
former Democratic Presidential Candidate in 1928. Over the years,
Meenan developed into what it is today - the second largest
independent fuel company in the country.
Our division in Tullytown, Pennsylvania, was established in 1952 with
the development of Levittown, PA. It was through a relationship with
William Levitt, builder of Levittown, New York, that Meenan came to
Southeastern Pennsylvania. Relationships with other larger builders
fueled the company's expansion in the '50s and '60s.
